After the quieter sedan versions, Alfa Romeo thought of a more aggressive sport based on the two-door body. TI was born, which dusted off the old acronym "Turismo Internazionale" that Alfa enthusiasts knew well. Initially the car was equipped with the 1200cc 901C engine and had a good success among the young and sporty public. The first version was produced from 1973 to 1977, when it was replaced by the TI 1.3, with a 1286cc engine. The TI continued its life also with the arrival of the second Alfasud series, with 1.3 (1351cc) and 1.5 (1490) units. Transformation of the look quite evident with the third series: the 1.3 and 1.5 remained available from 1981 to 1984, when the final version, called the Quadrifoglio Verde, came with the 901 G5C-type 1490cc engine, which remained available in the 1983-84 biennium. The Alfasud Ti also had quite a good career in competitions, with very successful monomake series’ and outings in rallies and on track under Group 2, then Group N regulations.
